Ellen's Pear

My friend Ellen brought this pear home from the Market on Saturday. I photographed it at noon and it made this remarkable shadow. A shadow that only noon in October can make.

I bought a blow torch and it's changed my world. It's so much easier to get the flame focused while still leaving everything intact. I love it. This one also from the cover of Cook's Illustrated by Elizabeth Brandon.

I painted these a couple of years ago and decided to return to them to see how I've progressed. I'm pretty happy with how they came out.
